What Our Campers Say About Us!

Drove through the campground because I was going to use the dump station which had a minimal fee. From what I saw the campground is very spacious well cap Management in the office was very polite and cordial.

Can't say enough good things about this place. The website shows pictures of a lot of campsites with a camper, motorhome or tent on them. What a great idea. We have a tent that attaches to the back of our pickup truck. We weren't sure if we would be able to set up on some of the campgrounds in the area. Beaver Lake had the pictures so we could see if we would be able to set up. The property is impeccable. Bathrooms are very clean and well kept all day. Campsites have adaquate space between them. We had a deer walk through in the morning while having coffee. It's a very quiet place. All the staff we've been in contact with have been so nice and helpful. I'd highly recommend this campground to anyone.

Everything about this place was great only reason I gave 4stars is the wood was way over priced! $8.75 is lil outrageous but it's a 4.5 star place just lower wood price! I decided to come back and rate this a 5stars cause yes wood was high price but the showers were the best I've ever showered in camping when it comes to a hot shower plus everything was clean and staff were kind and helpful. Also my daughter loved playing at the park and had a blast at karaoke on Saturday! Just a good place and it deserves 5stars!!!

Very nice campground for our 34' rv, its huge but very quiet area with tree coverage. The store was clean and had everything you needed. Only problem we has was at night we ended up driving past it as their sign was not well lit. Well worth it for the price.
jeanne immel
Very nice and secluded

Beautiful campground with pool. The bathrooms are so amazingly clean. The whole campground is very well kept. The staff are so nice and the greeting dog is the sweetest. We will definitely be back!

Very clean, great hospitality, camp sites were easy access, and quite

We've stayed here in the past and loved it

Terrific place. Feels like a community. Large well maintained sites. Lots of trees ( and bugs, bring repellant). Tent, cabin, and rv sites all mixed in. Very helpful staff in office, and workers everywhere. Looks like they r continuously improving. Owner (I think) on site and always asking about your experience. This was a great central location in Black Hills to explore everywhere. Restrooms and laundry very clean. Could use some updating, but perfectly serviceable. Cautions for those who havent been here. Grocery store local inCuster is okay, but i would stock up b4 u come. On site store is well stocked (wine, too). Cell service throughout the Black Hills is poor to non-existent. Same with campground. That coupled with weak wi-fi that only works at the office was a challenge. The owner said upgrades r in the works, so check with them if important. Tuned in to 3 fuzzy cable channels. Compared to other campgrounds we toured in the area, I think this one is the best, and priced quite reasonably. That being said, this is not a sparkly “luxury” park, although we were surrounded by folks with luxury rvs. Definitely a return.

We stayed 4 nights and it was great! We rented a cabin and pitched a tent. Very quiet friendly place. They have a pool and playground for the kids to burn off energy.

This campground is fantastic! In a great location, close to downtown Custer. The sites are spacious, clean and ours was extremely level. We backed in, parked and that was it. Great amenities. We were able to do our laundry right next to where our camper was, which was down the hill from the office. Volleyball net, pool, horseshoes and my kids had a blast playing cornhole. Cornhole was right next to a farmer's field so we had a nightly visit from a group of cows. The staff is friendly and were constantly around throughout the campground which was nice. We felt very comfortable here! Would highly recommend!

Clean, well maintained, nice size spaces, fire pits, nice play equipment for kids and a cool old-fashioned 70ies rectangle pool and slide! (Too bad the slide was out of commission.)You can tell the owners really care. Would definitely come back here to visit Black Hills.PS: The night registration with automatic light switch was one of the nicest details I have seen in years! Kudos to the person that thought of that!

We contacted this fantastic RV park via phone to check on two nights of camping in our 25 ft RV. The staff was professional, friendly and accommodating. We lucked out and they were able to get us our two nights. While they did not have one spot for two nights they did have availability and asked us if we were ok with changing sites after the first night. Both sites turned out to be great. Level, shady, clean and quiet. The park itself was well maintained and the staff are fantastic. We were greeted by their wonderful dog and the owner Julian and I shared two great stories about dogs and life. Today we met Kachina, Julians lovely wife and she was as kind and welcoming as anyone along our 20 State journeyWe highly recommend this park.

Very nice campground nestled in the Ponderosa pines. Sites terraced so they are not level, but you can use levelers, ramps our blocks to achieve level. The roads and sites are all gravelled and easy to navigate. Plenty of grass between sites. They have a pool and a well stocked general store. The staff is courteous and helpful.

Nice cabin with all your needs just bring your own food. Every thing else is there

I want to give a huge shout out to the Owner of Beaver Lake Campground!! We drove 12 hours to this campground to find someone else was in our camping spot!! We were tired and Crankey! Our mixup was no fault to Beaver Lake!!!With nowhere to go for the night. This Owner went above and beyond to find us a place to park our 32 ft camper for the night untill we could find another camp ground that wasn't sold out!Thank You so much for Your Kindness!! You will always be a five star in our book!!

Arrived after check-in and called ahead to be sure we could still get to our site. The office folks were so nice in providing us directions, even calling to confirm that our check-in information had been placed in the overnight box. We stayed here three nights for our visit to Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, and the Crazy Horse Memorial. The location is just outside of Custer; the grounds are clean and well maintained and the staff are always around to help. It was quiet at night, even with the campground being at full capacity and lots of families around. We did not use the facilities, but they seemed to be enjoyed by other guests—the kiddos seemed to really like the swimming pool. Lots of folks had dogs, including us, and the campground size and spacing was great for this.We would definitely stay here again.
Jennifer Willis-Nichols
Ample sized campsites, activities for kids, plentiful amenities.

We had a great time, beautiful site's. We tented on site T overlooking the meadow with a pond, saw lots of wildlife! We didn't have time for the pool and the slides were closed. Bathrooms were very clean and laundry facilities were well maintained. Friends enjoyed the cabins as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Veronica Kelliher
I rented the cabin for six people to sleep in we're all over the age of 65. So there's a bunk bed and a futon couch. And three of them were full size with a ladder to climb up to the top bunk. What the other people showed up that was in our group we decided it was not enough room for all six of us people not even 4 people. They said there was a full kitchen so we had a microwave, coffee pot maker, some cups and a dorm size refrigerator with no shelves in it. The bathroom was big size though. Road Construction was working on the ground while we were there. So one day they cut the electrical line. And 2 Days lateer they cut the cable line to the TV. But it wasn't Beaver Lake campsite fault.

That place your parents took you when you were little kind of feel.Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Showers are amazing with good pressure and temp control. Lots are spacious.Store is stocked with everything u forgot to bring.I happened to break down right in front of this place on the way to yellowstone. The employees assured me they would help me fix my car and they had a site for us available. On day 2 of 3 currently.Wow. You dont get a more family feel anywhere. Love it. Well maintained road, helpful employees.Pool is nice, park is nice, place has cheap rates. Your one stop family getaway awaits here. Make sure you get some beaver merchandise!

Good park in a great location. Only issue was we paid for a water/electric site but had no water/electric facilities. Plugged into box next-door since I didn't want to set up the rig a second time.
Philip Clinton
Our absolute FAV place!! Wide spaces with great views(spot 4)!! Not your typical rows of spots on top of each other! Lots of trees 🌲 Friendly Staff! Beautiful grounds! We will definitely be back!
Tara Tooley
Great place to camp on the far southern section of the Black Hills national park. Easy access to the Crazy Horse, Jewel Cave Monument, Custer State Park, and the non motorized George Mickelson Trail.
Herman Roche
Really liked this campground. I can't think of anything I didn't like. Already thinking about going back.
Phil Hunt
Stayed here recently for a week. This was our second year and they always provide a clean and perfect place for camping. The bathrooms were kept very clean and the staff is very helpful with any questions we had. Great place to make a plan to stay every year.I also paid the $25 bucks extra to lock in my spot. I saw the other reviews complain about it, but that's not fair. They clearly said that fee locks in the site. Since we wanted a site close to the showers it was a choice to pay extra. Super happy that I got the exact same site second year this time for a whole week during Memorial day weekend. We plan to visit next year as well.

This is a beautiful and quiet campground. Lots of shade and everything is very clean. Would stay here again!

Amazing campground! My girlfriend and i, as well as our puppy stayed here for a month to work remotely and it had everything you could ask for. The campground was always peaceful, it was well wooded and everything was in walking distance. We stayed from late April-Mid May, so we almost had the whole campground to ourselves. We didn't have a chance to check out the pool (i think it opens May25?) and would be sure to schedule our next visit during a time when its open. The staff were all very nice and accommodating. Our Cabin C3 was perfect for the two of us. Plenty of space and amenities (mini fridge, microwave, tv, Coffee maker). If a minor repair needed to be done the staff were always on it right away. Didn't get a chance to try their Wi-Fi as we brought our own ATT hotspot, but the hotspot had great connection the whole time to allow us to do our work. Compared to surrounding campgrounds, it was very cozy and had a very family run atmosphere. We stayed at the Rushmore KOA after our stay here only because the last few dates we wanted here were already booked and it was terrible compared to Beaver Lake. If your looking for something more commercial with crazy amounts of activities then the Koa may be right for you, but if your looking for a quiet place to stay and get away from it all then Beaver Lake is defiantly the place. I cant review the RV spots as we were in the cabin but they all looked well placed and spaced out, rather than on top of each other. Almost all the spots have the privacy of trees. All in all i will defiantly be staying at Beaver Lake again in the future!
Patrick Kennedy
Nice RV park. They're doing lots of improvements. Some of the people working there are knowledgeable some are not. Overall nice campground. Wish their wifi worked.
Aron Boswell
Up in the mountains, close to Custer, crazy Horse project, and Mt. Rushmore a truly must see. Smaller sites, full hookups. Nice place to make home for a week.
Marie Lailer
I just would like to let you know that we enjoyed our stay at your campground this week. However, I would like to express our irritation, on behalf of my son and his wife, as well, who had booked their own site, about the fact that we went online to SELECT AND BOOK a specific site, and at the time of booking the website stated that we had to pay an extra $25.00 if we wanted THE SPECIFIC SITE we had booked. Otherwise, we might get one "similar" and were not guaranteed the site we selected. WHAT?!! We have been camping all over the United States and never have I EVER had to pay an extra fee above the rate for our site, just to ensure we got the site we chose and booked online. What is the point of choosing and booking our site if we are not certain of getting the one we picked, unless we pay a "ransom" fee?Otherwise, happy to say it was clean, well kept, well-stocked, etc.

Picked this campground for its location. Lot are gravel and unlevel. They have a pool and waterslide but were not open on our visit. Shower were clean and hot. Laundry room was clean $2 for wash took another $2 to get clothes dry. Would probably try another campground if I go back.
Wendy Miller
Beautiful, clean rv park!! We loved it! Picnic table, fire ring. Store want stocks with food yet as it was beginning of season, but we still found everything we needed. Our view of the lake was peaceful. Great star overall!! Staff was helpful & informative! Clean restrooms, nice showers.
Britton Smith
Stayed here 2 nights in July 2019. In making advanced reservation over the phone I happened to say I agreed that ‘it would be nice to be near the restroom.’ So that’s what they did, put us in campsite # 1 in a 22’ travel van that was quite literally right next to the bathroom/showers, putting us inside the “L” area of that and a garage, and literally a few feet from a large propane tank! Needless to say the aesthetics were poor and not at all appealing! This should NOT be a campsite or at least not a full pay site! There was nothing else available and no compensation. We did however get another very nice site for our second night. Staff member Mike went above and beyond and was very kind in diffusing the situation and helping us find a new site. When we were ready to leave the campground our battery decided to go kaput. Jim, one of the maintenance guys, happened to be checking out a cabin next to us and we asked for help—not knowing how much help we'd get after our first campsite issue. This man patiently went beyond the call of duty driving me to a NAPA store and installing it to get us back on the road! The only thing that tops that is that he would not accept any compensation! So, it all started at Beaver Lake on a low note but ended on a high note. Thanks Mike and Jim, can’t thank you enough!

Nice place
Tim Scruggs
The sites are very decent sized! They also have wifi available. Everyone was super nice and helpful! Definitely plan to go back!!
Megan Kubes
Great campground, owners, and office dog. The site I selected online was not the best so we were easily able to switch to a more desirable site. Bathroom facilities were immaculate. Trash disposal very convenient. Would definitely come back and am looking at planning a tripAnd staying at their northwest coast location☺
David Vinnola
Nice campground with a water slide and pool for the kids. They also have small cabins with no bathroom and other bigger cabins with a bathroom and kitchenettes.
Christina Deherrera
Great campground nice and clean and great friendly staff!!!
Joan Rader
Have been here many times and it never disappoints! Very accommodating staff and owners. Clean and quiet, beautiful setting. Spacious pull throughs. Home away from home!
Lynn Cirbo
Beaver Lake Campground is a very well put together and well taken care of campground that has sites and RV spots as well. They have a little building in the middle that is the showers, bathrooms, laundry room, store and food center. The staff here is incredibly nice, and the gift shop is very cheap in there so make sure to grab some stuff. the spots have water and electric and they have Wi-Fi throughout most of the sites. Would highly recommend if you plan on being near the south western part of South Dakota for the tourist things.
Matt Perrone
We had the best experience here, so much so, we stayed twice this summer! The pool was heated, but still refreshing; and our kids spent hours at the shady playground. The sites were lovely and the owners were accomdating. Quick trip down the hill to Custer for coffee, donuts and shopping.
Patti Sosa
Nice spot to land. In the center of the black hills area. Lots of things a short distance away.
Neal Juers
Very clean, very friendly, very nice campsite!! Will be coming back for sure.
W P
Friendly staff clean bathrooms close to everything in the black hills
Paula Berg
Great campground and amenities. However, the wifi was terrible. If you work remote like I do it will be difficult.
Douglas Oman
Spent 2 nights here. Clean sites. Ours had plenty of space. Clean restrooms and nice shower heads. Dish washing area and laundry facilities. Wifi not the greatest and cell reception bad (Verizon) . Didn't visit the pool but looked nice. Slide is out of service due to Covid-19. Nice fenced area for the pups.
Haley Babe77
The campground is great, the staff is awsome friendly and so helpful, we stayed 2 extra days we love it so much

We really enjoy this campground. We looked into other Rv parks in the Custer area and by far this is the nicest campground we found. The owners and staff are all top notch. Very helpful and professional. Great place to stay.
Donnie Knittel
Great spot and convenient. Spots are a little tight. But drinking has water fill spots and a nice pool area.
ryanolano
We got a tent site. Good prices with loads of on-site amenities. Well-stocked store and pool. They offer wi-fi, but when I connected it wouldn't allow me access to the internet. Overall a nice site. Wife and I have stayed here 2 years now and would recommend to anyone visiting the Custer area.
Charlie Dango
It was clean and well cared for. The showers and bathrooms were kept very clean and well stocked. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. It was in a great location for site seeing and traveling between places. The only problem was we were quoted one price per night and on our receipt we were charged $6 more per night, which I think is dishonest.
robin challender
We stayed here one night (July 4th), wanting to see Mt. Rushmore on the way to Yellowstone. Great location for that. We had a back-in space with a 38 ft 5th wheel. Camp hosts brought us to the spot and gave tips on backing in. Hubby made it first try! Very quiet. We didn’t use the amenities since we heard there were fireworks in Custer and we drove there in our truck. They were ok for a small town. We saw some deer and rabbits from our space. Nice park and friendly people working there. ATT coverage was fine, T-Mobile was not – we have both.
Kristen Maxwell
Nice campground, perfect location for blackhills vacation. Could have longer pool hours
Gordon Robare
This by far was our Favorite campground on our RV trip to Mount Rushmore. Beaver Lake campground was perfect for our family, with a heated warm swimming pool, was 3 1/2ft deep all around & waterslide... But the slide is closed for the 2020 season due to covid-19... Also has Free WiFi near the pool area. The RV site was perfect & quiet in a back cul de sac, has plenty of room, a metal firpit & grate with a Covered roof over the picnic tables... Originally I didn't think anything of it, but that roof was so great as it rained both evenings, so it was nice to eat and play under it! This place was a little more expensive than some, but the pool made it worth it. Would definitely recommend this campground.
Jaylynn
We have nothing but good things to say about this campgrounds. Our RV was broke down in their campgrounds and they went well above and beyond to ease our stress and be helpful. The campsites are cute, their shower houses and laundry facilities were very nice, and the pool was a bonus for our kids. The staff were very nice and friendly.
Gemini Moon222
Staff was friendly and helpful. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Would definitely stay here again.
Jamie
Well organized and clean. Friendly staff.
Maxwell leverich
Shady, quiet campground. Close to downtown. Office staff wasn’t too friendly - asked a few questions and got one word answers. A little pricey compared to similar campgrounds.
Fran Walker
Location close to Custer National Park, and easy to get around the area. Pool and water slides were closed when we were there d/t COVID-19 but was present along with a playground, green space for ball kicking/throwing, horseshoes, basketball hoop (small surrounding area). The showers/bathrooms were very clean and hot water was plentiful. Each site had a fire ring and picnic table. Staff was very helpful and speedy with onsite firewood purchases. Laundry present onsite as well as a sink for washing your items outside of your camper/RV. I would stay here again.
